Ray Williams was a dedicated coach with Northwest Little League and served as the longest serving District Administrator for District 3 for nearly 20 years from 1977 to 1994, representing all of Calgary prior to the creation of District 8 (South Calgary) in 1994. His passion for Little League stemmed from his love of the game and, more importantly, his love for watching kids grow and thrive on the baseball field. As District Administrator, he took great pride in mentoring new League Presidents, ensuring they were well-equipped to succeed in their roles. His guidance and leadership created a legacy of strong, thriving leagues across District 3.
One of his proudest accomplishments was hosting the Canadian Little League Major Championships in 1994 at Foothills Park, an event that left a lasting mark on the district. He was a steadfast supporter of the annual District 3 tournament, celebrating not just the champions but all players for their efforts and love of the game. Known for his humor and insight, he often remarked that Calgary Little League must have the best training programs, as they consistently produced winning teams. His contributions as a mentor, leader, and advocate for youth baseball continue to inspire the Little League community.
Raymond Williams - March 20, 1930 - August 26, 2017
In 1994, Bill’s sons joined Little League, igniting his passion for the organization and sparking decades of dedication. He began volunteering with Sunridge Little League, which later merged with Centennial Little League, serving as a coach, umpire, and in various board roles, including President. Known for his unmatched love for kids and baseball, Bill became District Administrator for Calgary District 3 in 2013, a role he held until shortly before his passing in 2024. During his time as DA, Bill was instrumental in getting the Intermediate Division started here in Calgary.
Over 30 years, Bill helped grow baseball in Calgary and beyond, earning accolades like the Baseball Alberta Wally Footz Builders Award (2005), induction into the Little League Hall of Excellence (2009), and Lifetime Membership in Little League Alberta (2020). Renowned for his kindness, humor, and ability to connect with everyone, Bill’s legacy continues to inspire all who knew him.

Denis Wren has been a devoted advocate and contributor to Little League for over 45 years, dedicating countless hours to the development and success of the program. His journey in Little League began as a volunteer, where his passion for the sport and its impact on young athletes quickly became evident. Denis has taken on numerous leadership roles, including serving on local boards and organizing events that have brought communities together. His unwavering commitment to fostering teamwork, sportsmanship, and skill development has left a lasting impression on players and volunteers alike. Denis was a District Administrator in District 3 from 1999 to 2006.
Beyond his local contributions, Denis has played a vital role in promoting the mission of Little League on a broader scale. Denis was the driving force around the creation of the Little League Challenger Program - which provides opportunities for developmentally challenged youths and adults to participate in the great game of Baseball. His dedication to ensuring a safe, inclusive, and enriching environment for all players has helped strengthen the foundation of Little League. Denis’s leadership and vision have inspired others to get involved, ensuring that the values of Little League continue to thrive. Through his tireless efforts, he has touched the lives of countless children, leaving a legacy of opportunity and growth within the Little League community.
Joe Shea has been a cornerstone of Little League baseball in Canada for over 50 years, dedicating decades to fostering the growth of the sport and its positive impact on young athletes. His journey began as a coach and volunteer, where his leadership and commitment quickly set him apart. Over the years, Joe has taken on various critical roles within the organization, including serving as a league administrator, umpire, and mentor to countless players and fellow volunteers. Mr Shea was District 3's first ever District Administrator from 1971 to 1976. His efforts have been instrumental in enhancing the quality of Little League programs, promoting sportsmanship, and creating opportunities for youth to develop both on and off the field. Mr. Shea served as the President of Little League Canada from 1975 to 2007, and then as the Canadian Regional Director from 2007 to 2019.
In addition to his hands-on involvement, Joe has been a driving force in advocating for the values of Little League, emphasizing inclusion, teamwork, and community engagement. His passion for the game and dedication to nurturing young talent have left an indelible mark on the leagues he has served. Through his tireless work, Joe has helped shape the lives of numerous players, ensuring that Little League remains a vibrant and meaningful part of their childhood experiences. His legacy continues to inspire others to contribute to the growth and success of the organization.

Kris was a giant in the community and loved by all those who were lucky enough to cross paths with his big voice and even bigger personality. He was deeply involved in Calgary East Little League and even coached his children Jayda-Lynn and Karstan. Kris could always be heard on the sidelines screaming “Hustle!”
