2025 District 3 All-Girls Summer Travel Baseball Teams

In the summer of 2025, Little League Alberta District 3 (D3) is set to launch an exciting initiative by forming all-girls summer travel baseball teams, uniting talented young athletes from all 11 D3 associations in North Calgary and surrounding areas. This groundbreaking program aims to create a supportive and competitive environment for girls in baseball, offering teams in three distinct age groups: Minors (ages 8-10), Majors (ages 11-12), and Teenage (ages 13-16, encompassing Juniors and Seniors divisions). By bringing together players from across the district, these teams will participate in the Little League Alberta (LLAB) Summer Ball Program, competing against teams from Alberta and Saskatchewan. This initiative not only fosters skill development and teamwork but also provides a unique opportunity for girls to shine in a sport where they are often underrepresented, with the potential to advance to participate in the championship weekend during the August Long Weekend.

The District 3 All Girls Summer Travel teams will offer a blend of competitive play and personal growth, aligning with the LLAB Summer Ball Program’s structure of weekend tournaments throughout the summer months. Drawing from the district’s strong baseball community, the program will emphasize fundamental skills, sportsmanship, and leadership while giving girls a chance to compete at a high level across Alberta and Saskatchewan. With potential evaluations planned for early May, the teams will be carefully crafted to balance talent and camaraderie, preparing them for a season that could see them travel to various host sites for championship weekends. This initiative reflects District 3’s commitment to expanding opportunities for female athletes, potentially paving the way for future stars to emerge and represent their region on bigger stages, such as the Canadian Little League Championships.

REGISTER TODAY!

Who is eligible for a District 3 All Girls Summer Baseball Team?

We are accepting registrations for any girl between the ages of 8 and 16 (Little League Age Brackets) who participated in the Spring Baseball season in a District 3 Little League Association (See our Associations here).  You may register in Minors (8-10), Majors (11-12) or Teenage (13-16).  You must reside within the District 3 boundaries.

What is Summer Ball?

Summer Ball is the Little League Alberta Summer Travel Baseball Tournament program.  This program allows the Little Leagues in Alberta and Saskatchewan to participate in weekend tournaments from late June through the August long weekend (June 21 - Aug 4th, 2025). The program is aligned around the 3 age groups noted above, with tiered divisions in Minors (A, AA, AAA), Majors (A, AA) and Teenage (Jr, Sr).  There are minimum playing requirements to be eligible for the Championship Weekend during the August Long Weekend.

What are the Costs to play Summer Ball?

Registration will be $300 per player.  This will cover all your players' tournament entry fees and such.  Travel is NOT included. Players will get to keep their Personalized Jerseys, Cage Jacket, Baseball Hat, and Cooling Towel.

You will only be required to pay your registration fee if there is sufficient interest to form teams.  Payment will be available by e-transfer only due no later than May 31st.

After we register - what are the next steps?

Registration is open until May 5th, 2025.  There will be no late registrations.  After May 5th, we will determine if there is enough interest to form teams.  If there is more interest than we have space for we will arrange evaluations.  We will be communicating back to all individuals if teams are being formed or not no later than MAY 15th - which will provide sufficient time for you to still register for a mixed-gender team at your home Association.

During Registration we will be asking if there are any parents interested in Coaching - we will need sufficient Coaches in order to form teams as well.  We will ask those coaches to complete registration forms for coaching on an as-needed basis.
